Doorstop + 1 year
As far as I can see, nothing at all has been changed to this doorstop after its first installment, roughly one year ago. It seems to be in pretty good shape as well. Due to a good choice of material (sponge and vinyl tape), and an environment that shields it from weather (roof) and tempering […] more…
Changed situation
Steenweg op Merchtem / chaussée de Merchtem, coming from Rue Piers. Since some time a troubling traffic sign is put up. (see previous post below). It mentions that the Chaussée de Gand, on the other end of the Merchtem street, can not be reached. But a small test proved that his is not the case, […] more…
Bed gate garden
New extensions have been built to the earlier photographed tree protection that was erected with the help of an old bed on Rue Vandenbogaerde. It started by posing a modest orange traffic cone and has little by little grown into a success full green spot. The addition of several traffic signs is clearly marking where […] more…

New door again
Wapenstilstandstraat / Rue de l’armistice, 1081 Koekelberg When I took a picture of this door in 2012, it was the cut through wall writing that intrigued me: http://westenberg.constantvzw.org/?p=1038 Now six years later, the then newly placed door has been replaced again, but the text poetry has not changed a bit. more…

Black light
Sint-Gilliskerkstraat, 1060 Saint-Gilles Street light painted black in order not to intrude in private space. This is a second version of the wooden street light blocker: http://westenberg.constantvzw.org/?p=1069 And one has to admit: it is effective, the light is not reaching the apartment windows on the left at all. Arabe refresh
This image looks a lot like the previous ones in this series, (this one and this one) but attentive inspection shows that the writing is new. On the right, next to the E, you can still distinguish traces of the previous E. The monument stands in full sunlight, so even permanent marker ink fades easily. […] more…

Black Marker revisited
After the subtle black marble tomb-stone like intervention of artist Pierre Lizin (see this post) had disappeared, a space opened up for once again a re-inscription of the word ‘arabe’. The typography and handwriting are in line with the one in this post from 2010. more…
Marble arab
A new chapter in the political corrections to the ‘monument for the Congo warrior’. See the ‘Congo Monument’ chapter for other posts. At the spots in the text where it used to read ‘araabsche’ / ‘arabe’, black marble squares have been placed. Marble seems to be more resistant to scratching then the original sandstone of […] more…
Short sword
Luchtvaartsquare, 1070 Anderlecht Brussel The post below shows that it is not the first time that the sword of the monument for the “Fun fair workers” is split in two halves. In 2008 it also broke but it was hanging on for a long time thanks to a temporary construction. Apparently the quality of the […] more…

Chopped wood + metal
Avenue de l’Yser When making this photo on March 13, 2005, I enjoyed the prospect of returning here on a nice spring day sometime in the future to make a picture of the new branches that would sprout from the block.
