Chopped wood + metal

When making this photo on March 13, 2005, I enjoyed the prospect of returning here on a nice spring day sometime in the future to make a picture of the new branches that would sprout from the block.
Unfortunately the piece of wood that looked so inseparably intertwined with the decorative arrowheads on the metal fence is no longer there. It looks like the woodblock did not give in easily to whoever cut it from the fence. The job could only be done by also chopping a piece from the metal gate.
