Balcony decorations
Rue des quatre vents, Molenbeek
When I first saw the flatbuilding on the Vierwindenstraat / Rue des quatre vents, (see post below) I was amazed by the uniformity of the decoration of the balconies of all the seperate flats. It looked like the owner had distributed the same rush mats to all tenants, as a form of protection against the sun, and to increase privacy. Over the years, they have worn and now the facade of the flat building is much more varied and diverse due to all kinds of different solutions, and also due to the different agings of the mats.
